Hi,

Though I've not posted here before, I've been following the list
for a couple of months now (albeit from another address). I've
recently become involved in a list building scheme and though I
have already begun promoting it, I would really like some second
opinions on it.

Since the postings to this list are of a higher caliber than
other similar lists I've subscribed to, I thought you guys (and
gals!) would be the right people to ask.

The "Mega Mailing List Builder" was set up by Chad Wyatt and
works on a multi-level referral system. The idea is that through
promoting the system you can build your own opt-in mailist in a
short space of time.

According to Chad, if you refer 7 people and they refer 7, and so
on down through 5 levels, you can quickly build a subscriber list
of 20,000 members. To take part you need only agree to be added
to the lists of 5 participants above you.

Whilst I don't expect to see results as good as those and realise
that Chad himself stands to build a huge list, it does seem to be
a good opportunity.

I'm mindful of the issue of targeting, however I view it like
this: if the program brings me 5000 subscribers, but only 20% are
from my target market, I can expect the remaining 4000 to
unsubscribe fairly quickly. However, I have still gained 1000 new
members to my mailing list in a short space of time and without
it having cost me anything.

I'm usually very wary of anything like this, but since it's free
and opt-in the "Mega Mailing List Builder" seems very worthwhile.

Is this really OK, or am I missing something? What about ethical
issues?
