Got an Ezine Marketing |
EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread]Re: [epub] Digest Number 211 - Local Ezine Issues
From: KnowledgeTree Press <cmerrick@mindspring.com> Stephanie, I would assume you are speaking about localization in terms of a local UK issue, a local Germany issue, etc. If so, I think it would become cost prohibitive for most ezine editors to maintain local-specific content for each issue. Also, figure in the cost of localized marketing in order to build a large enough subscriber base for the specific local issue to make it profitable and the task becomes somewhat challenging. It seems that it would also require at least one staff person living in the local country to ensure accurate and applicable content. For instance, if I published a UK local issue of the "FreeBee Hunter Ezine", I would almost certainly need someone in the UK to locate freebie offers, contests and sweepstakes available in that country (most U.S. offers do not apply to foreign visitors). They would also need to write consumer related article specific to the local culture, etc. Also remember, unlike print publications, there are relatively few ezines that carry a cover price, and classified ads simply do not generate the revenue that print publication display ads generate. Speaking strictly for myself, I simply do not have the time or resources to establish and maintain a local specific issue of my ezine, even if 5000 UK local came begging for it. Unless of course they were willing to pay $20 to $30 each for the priviledge! :o) Well, just thought I would give my take on the issue.
