I agree, Mike.  Your comment reminds me of one of my favorite sayings:
"When you copy from one source, that's plagarism.  When you copy from 
many, it's research."

That's a somewhat tongue-in-cheek way of saying that there are no new
ideas.  BUT when you combine ideas, and put your own unique spin on them,
suddenly they seem new.
