Whilst not being quite so severe, that's tended to be my attitude too. However, I sometimes wonder if I'm being over cautious, there are after all millions of people online. The percentage of those that regularly read publications overlapping with my niche, I wouldn't know... I'd guess a LOT. The number of such publications the 'average internet user' (whatever that is) subscribes to I've also no idea. What I do know is that there are thousands of these publications and only a few have more than five thousand subscribers, many considerably less. If anyone had the figures and could do the math on this, it may well reveal that by avoiding articles which have appeared in publications with a very high readership, or that have been used by several publications already, the probability of my subscribers having previously read the same article is negligible. I say 'may well' as this is a theory for which I don't have the proof required for me to base my own actions on it... it's just a thought. Another though on this issue is that perhaps some publishers seek to add a certain 'star quality' to their Ezines by regularly reproducing the articles of the 'big names'. Lets not overlook the reason why the resource box is usually written in the third person: many if not most readers that are not also publishers themselves don't recognise this as the author's self written ad in lieu of payment for the article use. They connect it with the comments they'd find at the end of a paid contributors article in a print magazine.
