All of this talk about original articles, vs. "used" articles
has compelled me to share something that shocked me. 

A couple of months ago, I realized I was getting more unsubscribe
requests than usual every week. It prompted me to take a good hard 
look at my e-zine, and make some drastic changes. 

I say drastic, because I did something I hadn't seen anyone else
do. I omitted the articles. 

As many of you, I subscribe to numerous e-zines. They all seem to 
be the same, mine included. An article, a couple of links to sites, 
and classified ads. Why WOULD anyone stay subscribed to MY e-zine 
when they were already getting the same content from 10 others? 

So, as I said, I got rid of the weekly article, added some new, 
interesting features, and placed a couple of LINKS to articles, 
thus giving the reader the choice to click or not to click. 

I was absolutely shocked to see the huge drop in unsubscribe 
requests. While before, I could receive over 20 a week, it was 
now down to 2 or 3, literally. 

It's been mentioned on the list, over the last couple of days, 
about the large amount of marketing e-zines. After my experience, 
it seems quite clear to me that e-zine subscribers are looking for 
more original content. Whether that means more original articles, 
or LESS articles altogether, I haven't figured out yet.
