Thanks for your helpful response but I think that the main
deterrent to authors like myself is the monetary expenses.

As a mom of two who works part-time, law suits are not
financially feasible.  I applaud those who stand up for themselves
and I do try to defend myself outside of the court system.

I still believe that each case of copyright infringement
should be examined on an individual and personal basis.
In my case, the author was truly sorry and did make amends
so I let it go at that (since he didn't copy my whole article, just
key phrases).  If the offending author won't admit their mistake
or ignores or harasses you, then that is when I think it is time
for action...if you can afford it that is! :)
