EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread]Re: [epub] Originality should extend to IDEAS too - not just writing
From: "M. Evans" <marye@mvp.net> From: "S.Sivasubramanian" <sivaraj@giasmd01.vsnl.net.in> >Admittedly yes. But imagine what would happen if the current >trend continues, where many ezine publishers simply take an >*original* idea and do a write-up on it in their own style, or words. >Not much addition to the basic concept, simply re-stating it in >different words. But these people won't succeed. There will be a shake out, and all the copycats will be known as that. If the thing your purport to teach in the article has not in some way altered your own experience, then I submit to you that whatever is written, whether rehashed or copied, will ring false. It's hard to have ideas pass through a mind and not have an impact. and what comes out once the idea goes in is flavored with the experience of the person who learned from it. In the case of just rehashing, it's clear to me that the folks who do this have learned nothing. And it doesn't take a lot of investigation/reading/website visiting, to see more of the same old same old. I think I'll step out of this discussion. There is a thought that hovers just outside my ability to grasp, synthesize, and put it on paper -er screen. And of course, that's the one that would clear this up once and for all . . . I keep thinking we're not expressing opposing ideas. . . >When the *newbies* (they aren't going to remain newbies forever) >read similar - if not the same - matter across different ezines, >they're going to start getting bored. And when they are overloaded >with email, they're going to unsubscribe from atleast a few of these >ezines with repetitive thoughts, concepts and ideas. I agree. >My suggestion is only that ezine publishers rely more on their >own ideas and experience for articles, than simply copying another's >so that, in the long run, they retain their readers by sheer content. > >Opinions, anyone ?
