I'm guilty of this one. I have my email client set to
include my sig file on all outgoing messages. When I click
on an email link to subscribe or when I think I'm talking to
an autoresponder I don't bother removing it.

Being a newsletter publisher I also get the receiving end of
this too. If someone has subscribe in the subject and there
is just a signature I add them to the list no problem. If
the subject says subscribe and there is more than a
signature (a whole sales message) I don't bother adding
them. Most likely they are only sending the subscribe email
to either test my address for validity or so they can get my
newsletter and spam all my email links in it. I don't care
for either. I also don't add them if their email address
screams autoresponder. Fighting with an autoresponder is
like boxing with your hands tied behind your back. You ain't
gonna win and you wind up getting beat to a pulp in the
process.
