Merrie,

Until you have more subscribers, I doubt you will see enough income from
the ads to make it worth the time and effort to sell them. Try signing up
for a few affiliate programs and use ads for them to fill the sponsor
space. You will probably make more money and spend less time that way. A
simple ad for AllAdvantage or similar program will pay you repeatedly for
people who sign up under your link. If each customer brings you only 50
cents a month <not hard>, you will still be making $6 a year for each
person that clicked on your link. With 100 subscribers, half of them
joining would result in $300+ for the year from the ad space verses $5 that
an advertiser might have paid.

And since your list is small, you might want to do a little write up
recommending the affiliate program. This will give you a higher response
rate. But be sure to check out the program before you recommend it as your
credibility is on the line.

Getting half of your list to join AllAdvantage might be hard since it has
been out for awhile and many people have already signed up. But new
programs are added all the time! I placed 1 ad for Ignifuge (a NEW
program that pays you to make their web site your start page) and had 4
direct referrals and 3 indirect referrals by the next morning.

Considering that experts say it takes seeing an ad 5 times before someone
buys, don't be afraid to run the ad several times before switching to
another program. And don't shy away from promoting competing programs,
most people are joining more than one "pay to surf" company.

You should also seek out other publishers to swap with, that will build
your subscriber base.

Hope that helps,

Rhonda Holland
