Hi Bobbie..........well I have two humor ezines, because I discovered I had
two very different groups of folks reading the first one. The second one
started out as just a list to family and friends (hence the name). When I
found a number of the readers of HS would rather not have adult jokes, I
started sending them to my private list. So that is how the two ezines
evolved.

The first one HeadScraps(tm) is now oriented towards familys and adults who
do not care for strong language mixed in with their humor and columns and
other items. It is so squeaky clean an eight year old can subscribe without
his/her parents having to scan their reading material.

The second one has evolved to the point where the subs outnumber the first by
2 to one.

But, in neither one, will I publish anything that seems to pick on a
particular set of folks...I won't even allow blonde jokes.......and everyone
seems to like that idea.

Also we expanded both from plain humor to humor based with columns,
contributions of original writings, poems, household hints, computer tips,
consumer tips.....so they are more a magazine (e-zine, since it is online
only) than just a humor newsletter.

Well, it does get overwhelming if you are doing a lot and trying to do it
alone. I solved that problem by asking the readers if anyone would like to
help me put the issues together. The first lady I found was great, but
family pressures and problems got to be too much for her. Then I found my
managing editor and another lady who really didn't work out very well as she
refused to follow directions about how I wanted things published and
formatted. Then we found my associate editor and she is great and still
learning, both about computers and the ezine. We didn't have titles until
the second lady came and I got to trust the first one very much as we tend to
think and react the same way to things and have the same goals in mind. She
is a real team player as is the second, less experienced lady.......so we had
to come up with titles........LOL.......and it works for us. You may decide
to do it differently. That is what is so great about doing this. You get to
decide how YOU want to do it.

We now have about 4K subs and are gaining more daily. The first ezine, HS,
is published Mon, Wed, Fri and the second, FF18, is published Tues and Thurs.

===================
Well, you could have a different one for each subject. Not sure what type of
subjects so it is hard to come up with ideas without a better knowlege base.

BTW.......the familydaycare is a discussion list for family day care
providers. I was in business for 13 years doing just that. When you run a
home daycare, you are all alone accept for the kids and your clients, when
they drop off and pick up the kids. It is a place to get ideas on how other
folks handle things. contracts, meals, clients, problems, and to vent. 'Cause
sometimes when dealing with parents, you really need a place to vent where
the other folks know exactly what you are talking about.
Folks who haven't been in the business have the idea that you are just a
babysitter and have a really easy job and really don't do much. Some folks
will ask you when you are going to get a 'real' job!......LOL......It is
really hard work for very little pay and a lot of responsibility and I
averaged 70 to 85 hours a week without scheduled vacations and holidays. And
there are a lot of folks doing it who have another source of income so really
don't take it seriously. We try to instill a better sense of responsibility
in those folks.

Well hope that answered some of your questions. Feel free to ask
whatever.....I'll do my best to give you my
opinions!.........Hugs........Ann</PRE></HTML>
