EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] UK Copyright Act
From: "HMS" <hms@jet.es>
Hi All
For your info this recently appeared in the UK press. I sent it to another
list but thought the info could be useful here also.
"The Copyright Act allows for quotations to be made for purposes of
criticism or review-often referred to as fair dealing.
In practice this means you may quote up to 400 words or a series of
extracts, none exceeding 300 words, totalling not more than 800 words, from
a work of prose and a total of 40 lines from a poem provided this does not
comprise more than a quarter of the whole work.
On this basis, given that you credit the author and the title of the work,
you need not seek the authors permission."
I thought it may be of some value.
Regards
Mike (Samuels)
