[epub] Spam, and unhappy subscribers

Hi everyone,

I enjoy reading the epub posts each day, particularly those 
that deal with spam, and the problems some publishers have 
with subscribers. While most of our members have a 'horror
story' to tell, I'd like to share with you a 'conversation'
I had today with a subscriber of my ezine Successful 
Thinking....

EMAIL MESSAGE FROM SUBSCRIBER:

"Please dont spam,Thank you.."

REPLY TO SUBSCRIBER:

"Hi!

My name is John Payne, and I want to thank you for the 
courtesy of your request re spam.

I'd just like you to know that I wasn't spamming you. Your 
name was added to the Successful Thinking list at eGroups on 
November 1st in 1998! As I didn't run the Ezine at the time, 
I don't know how your name got on the list.

Given that the ezine ceased publishing almost immediately 
after that, and that I didn't take it over and start 
publishing again until just 5 weeks ago, you'd be excused 
for forgetting about it anyway.

If you enjoy the magazine, then I hope I've put your mind 
at rest regarding being spammed, and that you keep enjoying 
it. 

If you want to unsubscribe, you can do it from the 
instructions at the bottom of the ezine, or just reply to 
this, and ask me to do it. If we lose you as a reader, I 
wish you all the very best.

I'm always glad to hear people speaking out against spam. It's 
also nice to see people retain their manners, even when they 
believe that they're dealing with people who have none!

Isn't it nice when there's a happy ending!! Does anyone one
else have some 'good news' stories on this subject?
