I place a lot of e-zine ads every week and I see all kinds of e-zine
publishers and I will attest that there are more than a few publishers
making a very nice living off their one or two big e-zines.  I can think of
one publisher (I won't name him), I remember back when he had a "mere"
10,000 subscribers a year ago and charged $25 per ad. Now his zine grows by
hundreds a week (just from inertia I guess) and he commands $600 per ad. He
runs 2 or 3 ads an issue and one issue per week - the math is nice.

I think the key is that a quality e-zine attracts lots of subscribers over
time and that loyal audience is a very valuable thing to advertisers.
