If i'm on the right track, the virtual domain that you are thinking of,
is either a webpage, www.maindomainname.com/yourdomainname.html
or some such thing.
It may also be a redirected Domain name, such as: 
www.yourdomainname.com that is pointed to a directory within another
URL that has the webspace. 
This is like sending an actual domain name to a directory within another
URL. It doesn't actually have it's own server space, but does have a 
domain name. It is just pointed to space within another domain.
