Hi Debbie, 

From what I've read, it's my understanding that anything one 
creates, be it text, graphics, etc., once it's created, it's 
copyrighted by the owner. 

However, if you've discovered that someone has stolen it from 
you, you can't really take any legal action against them unless
you've actually registered the copyright.
