[epub] Tracking New Subscribers

I remember seeing once a method of adding some code to and URL so tracking
new subscribers from a specific ad buy or trade would be made easier. I
believe it involved adding a "?" and some other code at the end of the url
for tracking purposes. Can anyone shed some light on the process for me?
