EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] Etiquette for using subscriber's names
From: "Diana Ratliff" <dratliff@mail.coin.missouri.edu> Hi, everyone! I'm new to the list, an expert in business card use & design who's just started an e-zine. First issue went out 2/14; next issue going out Monday... I already have more than 100 new subscribers since the first issue, so it's off to a good start! My question: I'm trying to create a sense of community, and my marketing- oriented ezine welcomes tips from subscribers. In fact, subscriber submissions will be a big part of the 'zine (and, I hope, part of its appeal). Naturally, if I publish a Marketing Tip or Marketing "Pet Peeve" from anyone, they get a bio. However, do you feel it's acceptable for me to refer to subscribers by name, who make comments to me (not actual tips they've submitted)? For example, to say in my Publisher's Comments section that "John Doe and Jane Smith both noticed the 'wordo' I made in my first issue; guess I'll have to stay on my toes!". Should I use names? Full names? First name, last initial? Not use them at all? Only with permission? Whatcha think?
