Re: [epub] name expanding/changing?
From: "The Tinchers" <ljtinch@netins.net>

That is really interesting about the Two Scoops! I didn't know.

Question: Is it regional? If the answer is yes, maybe you would
be able to rework something to get your subscribers. It's a
whole wide world out here and if you're speaking dialect, only
dialect people will understand. Those are the people you
probably already have. Don't you want more? Sure, we all do.

So, fact: Here is a name people have to click on the web page to
find out more about. Question: Are they are actually going to?
Would you, if you were in a hurry? Do you want to catch those
people who are in a hurry, to at least get them to subscribe so
they can go to your website at their leisure? Yup, we want to
catch everyone, the name of the game is getting a huge subscriber
base. We have their attention for a split second, we want to
keep it longer.

Solution? Maybe just something like "Two Scoops" (keeping
original title) an ezine that changes lives TWO Scoops at a time!
(Recognize it? I paraphrased it from your web page.:)) If you
can keep those two together in all your communication, I think it
will definitely help. Plus, your SIG is way below your
signature. I had to look for it. Is one of them your subscribe
address? If not, it should be. Your SIG is very important.
It's a nice chunk of change, you might say, meaning it'll bring
you in some subscribers. Maybe it should read
ray-subscribe@twoscoops.com so they know which one to subscribe
at. And of course I always like "Subscribe now!" Some people
have to be told what to do. I know I certainly do from time to
time. I'm sitting at the computer, my eyes are glazing over from
too many hours at the screen, I see "Subscribe now!" and CLICK!
I did it. Man, that works. :)

Well, I truly hope I've been of help.
Regards,
Jan
P.S. And, for your information, I don't think you needed to
apologize for anything. I imagine you just got so many
responses, you might have thought you came off sounding bad. I
just think people responded to a call for help, and I think you
got some great responses.

Wellllll... actually I thought long and hard about the name (Two
Scoops is
about the twentieth possible option I considered). It has
multiple meanings,
Two Scoops is both the branding of our family of pubs (Two
Scoops-Daily, Two
Scoops-KickNic, Two Scoops Biz-Ed, Two Scoops Partners-in-Power)
on the
philosophy that "When you are ready, ask for Two Scoops."
Anything beyond
the two "scoops", like notes from readers, quotations, etc.,
counts as
"sprinkles". (As in, "oooooo that looks yummy... I'll take two
scoops of
that ... with sprinkles please" -- which can apply to ice cream,
mashed
potatoes, or that hot number walking down the street (it's a
common phrase in
the French Quarter)). It is also the formatting style for all
the pubs (a
main article plus a second bonus article or column, plus
sprinkles).

Not identifying it further makes them click on the URL to find
out "twos
coops of what", just like you said. But, as someone else
suggested, perhaps
offering more upfront content at the front page, instead of the
one-click-away archives might help people figure it out.

Thanks for your ideas. Can't get enough good ideas

Ray
