If you will notice the banner affiliate usually pays you 3 to 5 cents
everytime some one clicks on them.
Make sure that when and if you put their banner on that they can come
back to your page with a tag. 
You want to generate cash but you also don't want to lose it when they
go someplace else.
In other words Banners are paying you 3 to 5 cents to steal your
potential of a sale.
I have a newsletter that gives away free stuff so I know that they will
be back and back and back.  But if you are a retailer of any sorts you
want them to see you again..and again..and again.
