When I copy the ASCII-art into a monospaced font it is clearly two
people.... but in proportional fonts it looks like your cat fell asleep on
the keyboard -- garbage.

The difference is simply that proportional fonts space things out
proportionately, which wreaks havoc when you try to create a picture in
monospace.
