e-publishers add to make their ezines unique?


IN REPLY: Thanks, Eva! Talk about presenting me with a
challenge!

Firstly, I have joined forces with my good friend
Pamela Heywood from TuCats Mewsletter. We've come up
with an idea for a totally new approach to Internet
Marketing ezines ... more on this at a later date.

Secondly, ANYONE can come up with a unique ezine. It
helps, of course, if you're naturally creative, but
even this is not strictly necessary.

Here are my personal tips for adding a unique twist to
your ezine:

1) READ WIDELY. Most of my ideas come from other
disciplines besides Internet Marketing. I learn
techniques from marketing ezines, but I get "original"
ideas from fields such as writing, psychology, history
and philosophy.

2) KEEP YOUR MIND OPEN. Anything can spark off an idea.
You simply need to keep a young head on your shoulders.

3) BE INVENTIVE. Remember when you were a child and you
had the ability to amuse yourself with a few building
bricks or a cardboard box hour after hour. You haven't
lost that ability to be inventive just because you've
matured. Don't ever believe that you can't still be
imaginative.

4) DON'T JUST PLUMP FOR TYPICAL FORMATS. Your ezine
does not have to be the usual editorial/article/ad
format. You could write in the form of a biography,
diary, letters, recipes - and not just for cooking,
one-liners, jokes, reviews ... need I go on? Any of
these styles can be adapted to your own area of
interest. For example, I've published some Recipes for
Success which were interviews with e-publishers under a
recipe type format. Anything is possible.

5) THROW CAUTION TO THE WIND. Do and be damned! As long
as you love what you're doing who cares? As soon as you
start taking yourself too seriously your ideas will
start to run dry. E-publishing is meant to be fun!
Sure, most of us are trying to earn some pennies (I'm
British) and some are even trying to earn a living, but
if you don't enjoy what you're doing ... well, you can
forget about ever being unique.
