I too am in the UK.
If you actually decide to get a DOMAIN registered, most offer
autoresponders
as part of the package. programs like moneymachine GIVE you autoresponders.

However in a fairley recent survey I ran in my ezine, adverts that
mentioned
aweber, smartbot getresponse etc FAILED miserably against the same adverts 
with a UNKNOWN multi-followup auto-yakker address, or a NORMAL domain email
address...

My lot said multi-follow-ups are a GOOD tool for THEM to use,
but abysmally used or even abused by other people....
