I put out both versions of my newsletter/ezine. 
Basically I run two lists one for the html version and
one for the text version.

The main difference in the text version being that
there is no short cuts to the hyper text links - they
are displayed in full.

Topica, the list server I use, has recently developed
technical problems with processing html newsletters in
case any one is interested in knowing this.  It has
meant that some newsletter providers cannot send out
any html versions until they fix whatever problem it
is that they are having.
