EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] The vexed solo mailings debate
Just to add my $0.02 on this subject ... I send one solo mailing each week at the same time as my ezine. I do it, not for the advertising revenue per se, but as a way of cleansing my subscriber database of 'freebie- seeking tire kickers'. I read an article a few months back on this subject and that's the author's term for those who will take what you have to give as long as it's free but woe betide you if you dare pollute their mailbox with anything else. Although I get paid for running these solo mailings, I do it primarily as a service for the paid advertisers in my ezine itself. I want my subscribers to be buyers, not just passive readers, and I find I attract a lot of advertisers because of this policy. In addition, I am attracting advertisers because of my zero tolerance policy on bounced mail. I have Aureate Group-Mail set up to unsubscribe anyone whose mail is returned for whatever reason. Again, this is a way of keeping my list "clean" and ensuring my advertisers get the most bang for their buck.
