[epub] list problems

Well, maybe . . .

I migrated to them in January 00 because I was tired of doing the admin
work using majordomo at my own isp. I have a gardening newsletter (4600
subs) The available majordomo scripts for bounces etc weren't really great
so I searched around and onelist.com seemed the easiest, simplest option.

In spite of 3 letters asking for the cheque over the past month, (which was
due in April - one only had to stay 3 months) I have not yet received even
a *response* to my letters querying the cheque - never mind the cheque itself.

So, if anybody actually has received the cheque, I'd be delighted to hear
from them *and* receive the email address of the person involved in
actually sending them out. (I've tried all the listed addresses for
onelist/egroups.)

On a separate issue - if you're at onelist/egroups, you'll notice the
bouncing member commands have changed again. Fewer options this time and
never an explanation that I've seen about this change. One wonders why they
have a listowner newsletter.

And once again. If you have a list on these servers and you're backing
them up regularly as per the suggestion last week from the member who lost
his entire list, let me make this suggestion.

When you save them - (at least using IE) - use the "save as" command and
then save them as text rather than html. Saving as text gives a text list
that can be read by a database manager. Saving any other way simply gives
an undifferentiated string of names and @ signs. You can read it but a
computer can't. (at least mine couldn't)

I now back up the master list every time I send it out. I also keep all the
subs and unsubs on a separate file.

And yes, I suspect that most of the free lists are worth the price you pay
for them ;-) with minor differences between them. Someday - ah someday I'll
be able to afford a real service.;-)
