[epub] Article submissions

Best of luck to Eric on his upcoming adventure in 
promoting his family game and his website. A great idea to 
harness his article on domain ownership for this purpose.

If writing and submitting articles is a powerful way of 
marketing an enterprise, this applies all the more when that 
enterprise is an email publication. This is not only on 
account of the "blurb" which will appear below your article. 
More importantly, the article is a sample of what the reader 
can expect in YOUR newsletter.  Your  new batch of 
subscribers will be qualified and targeted ones.

Sadly, however, many marketers and publishers aren't as 
successful with article submissions as they'd like to be. If 
you've had your fair share of disappointments in this area, 
ask yourself these questions:

* Did I send out each article with a warm, personalized 
letter addressed to each individual publisher, or did I send it 
out in bulk with "undisclosed recipients" in the subject line?

* Did I take the trouble to find out in advance whether my 
article was suitable for the publication I sent it to, or did I 
just pick a whole bunch of ezines I know nothing about, 
blast them my article and hope for the best?

* Did I Imply that the other party would be doing his or her 
readers a tremedndous service by publishing my article, 
whereas it was transparent that I would be the only one to 
gain?

In the print media, few writers would think of submitting 
material before carefully researching the targeted 
publication. But many seem to believe that if you're an 
ezine publisher, you must be desperate for stuff to fill up 
your space. In some cases, that may be true, but it's no 
excuse to send a piece called "Ten Ways to Increase Your 
Website Profits" to an ezine read by people without the 
slightest desire to own a website!
