[epub] Re: paid ads
Hi everyone.

I am in need of some advice please. I am new to the paid advertising side of
running a newsletter. For some time now (about 6 months or so), I have been
in an affiliate type situation where a person who has a site that lists
potential places for advertisments has had a link for me. What he said he
wanted was for me to place a link for him at my site - a fair enough
request. He then proceeded to tell me where and how on MY site he wanted
that link to go. Since then, he has consistently written to tell me how to
run my newsletter and where and how often to place ads for him etc.

I have under 1000 subscribers so I realise getting paid ads is not easy but,
the deal was that I was to put a "footer" for his site on my newsletter for
every edition, while he would occasionally place ads for my newsletter in
his various newsletters. Six months down the track, I have NOT seen any form
of advertising for my newsletter and, last time I checked, he did only have
a link for me at his site. He did get one paid ad for me which, he says,
fell through. He now has another for which he did tell me the dates I would
run them. That, I think, is fair enough but, as I had unpaid ad swaps
running those days, I did write back and ask if those dates could be
changed. He has not answered that mail from two weeks ago but has written to
me in the mean time to tell me what I nuisance I am etc etc and has
farewelled me from his site since I don't want to be there - which I never
said. All I have done is to stop running the footer for his site since he
has thousands of subscribers compared to my 970 and I seem to be giving HIM
free advertising all over the place, yet he can't even run one single ad for
me, as was my understanding of what to expect from him.

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems all one sided to me and I get nothing out of it
except abused, verbally, I think. He consistently writes to tell me off for
something I have not done, apparently, and I find him downright rude. As I
said, I am new to this side of things and I would like to know if this is
what is supposed to happen. I am truly not happy at being out down,
patronised and spat out and would appreciate any advice anyone can help
with. Please write to me personally, if you would prefer.

Thanks. Sandy.
