[epub] business model

After following the discussions on the e-pub forum for a while, I
get the impression that the advertising-based business model is
the only way to make any money in e-publishing -- build a free
subscriber list via an ezine or whaterver and sell ad space once
you reach say 1000 subs.

Is anyone making money from any other e-pub business model??
