[epub] Affiliate programs

I have another question for everyone.

I would like to hear some opinions about affiliate programs. Which programs
do you like best and why? Which seem to be the most profitable for you? I
have a good friend who is doing very well with affiliate programs in his 4
e-zines and at his web site. He gave me a list of about 6 or 7 that are his
favorite. The problem is that 3 on the list (CyberBounty, Websponsors, and
DirectLeads) require a certain level of traffic before you can start working
with them. That's certainly understandable but sort of like the old
"you-can't-get-hired-without-experience-but-you-can't-get-experience-until-you-get-a-job"
 catch-22. 

What programs did some of you use as you were first getting started?
