Hello Jessica. This is how I do what you wish to do.
I developed a signature that is automatically added 
on the end of all emails I send out.. See below after
my name and you will see what I mean. When you find someone
who you would like to forward your subscription request to,
simply have him/her copy your signature and paste it onto his 
outgoing mail to his selected list. 

This will keep content off the email you are 
sending looking for subscribers. Then those interested in your
Newsletter, will email you with the subscription request.
This works well for me. Just make sure you include what the
subject of your newsletter is in the signature you send out.
