David,

I use a Mac. To add to Jade's reply, I have Office 98, which
allows me to save in various Word (.doc) formats. For example,
Word 4 Mac, Word 5 Mac, Word 6 Mac/Word 95 Win. Word 97/98 Win
are compatible with Word 98 Mac. It's a long time since I've
used it, but I'm sure the Windows version of Word must have
similar save options.

I suggest you either save documents according to your
co-publisher's version, or if you are faced with several
different setups, just go for the lowest common denominator
(usually Word 6 Mac/Word 95 Win).

If you save as .txt, a Mac user will see plain text like this
email. Using .rtf (rich text format) is an option, but you will
loose any Word specific information. Save a file on your own
system in .rtf and open it to see the same as a Mac user.

Just out of interest, is there any particular reason you use
Word, and not a plain text editor (my preferred choice)?

Hope this helps,

Azam Corry
