It is common decency to reply to people who go to all

Also, when one submits an article somewhere one tend
to be egocentric about it in the sense that one thinks
only of that article and the place submitted to.  From
the sender's point of view, there is no other reality.

From the receiver's point it is just one email amongst
dozens even hundreds of emails clamoring for
attention.

I have been a professional writer for 30 years. I
can't remember the number of times I found out
something was published when I got a check (often
90-120 days after fact or when friend complimented me
on the piece - in which case I had to double check my
records to make sure I had been paid if it was a
paying market.)
