Personally, I "try" to respond to all submissions, but don't
always.  There are thing you can do to help your cause
though.

1) as others have said, email individually, not to a group
and make sure your subject matches the theme of the
ezine or newsletter

2) subscribe to the ezine you're submitting to - I always
check, and a subscriber always gets a personal reply;
I have had people subscribe & immediately go "no mail"
after asking me to promo or print something though, which
is not nice; I check for that, too

3) if you're not a subscriber, at least go through the
trouble of finding out the editor's name - I hate submissions
that are addressed to "hey you" basically (but I will
respond if I like the submission; it just doesn't make a
good first impression on me)

4) be polite; don't act like you're doing the editor a favor
by submitting - I've even helped a writer rewrite an article
because he was so polite and his subject was good; the
writing just wasn't quite up to par - some people know
how to make a great impression (or maybe it was just
one of my "weak" moments - LOL)

5) and please follow the guidelines for the ezine; I've
pretty much come to the conclusion that people don't
pay attention to this, but it would be nice if they did
(I know, I'm dreaming <g>)
