I've got about a dozen referral programmes on the boil but I've yet to see any benefit! Mind you, it's early days. 

The trouble with these referral programmes is that the only realistic way of promoting them is to send adverts out to a 'safelist' or 'opt-in list' like Globelists or eGroups and that's when you get overwhelmed by spams from other subscribers or from others outside the lists who make a practice of collecting e-mail addresses. 

Although the responses from subscribers are technically only 'replies' and therefore not strictly spams, they amount to the same thing as far as nuisance is concerned since most recipients are not in the least interested in your offer. 

Many do not even read it, they just send out *their* offers with their autoresponders by way of reply. That's a sheer waste of time and effort for everyone concerned!
