I originally had my domains with Network Solutions but I successfully
transferred most of them recently to 000Domains.  If you do the transfer
originating from Network Solutions expect 2-3 weeks and hassles.  If you do
it originating from 000domains, as I did, it should be completed in less
than a week.  000domains sends the request to NetSol (or whomever is
current) usually within 48 hours.  NetSol then has 5 days in which to
respond.  I had no problems with the transfer doing it this way.

You do not have to wait until your term with NetSol is near completion.  In
fact, you should never wait until there is less than 6 months remaining on
your domain registration to take any action on it otherwise you could find
your domain available due to delays or computer glitches ect.

You can transfer at any time and the additional time required by the new
registrar (1 or 2 years) will be added to your current time remaining on the
domain.    At $13.50 per year per domain, 000domains is much more reasonably
priced.  They have a very easy to use interface and, speaking from
experience, their service is outstanding.   I get nothing out of
recommending them except the pleasure of sharing my good fortune in finding
