[epub] A Community of Researchers by eMail Newsletter?

Hi All! 
I'm a student from the University of italian Switzerland 
of Lugano(Coomunication Sciences) and I'm doing a research
about 'network for international researchers over the internet'... 

I think that maybe we can organise a such type of
community also by email and maybe intrioduce advertising
in this type of "market" (the education one), what do you think?

Maybe somebody of you have some example or documents about this 
kind of 'Extranet by eMail'... or also every suggestion or advice
