[epub] Mass-MailingAuto-Responding Software?

Hi. I'm new, and one question/problem comes immediately to mind in planning
to start a newsletter or ezine; forgive me if it's commonly-asked. I didn't
see a faq.

What kind of software is best for sending out press releases and
newsletters, and for autoresponding to replies seeking more information? The software
should not, I would imagine, show more than a single recipient in the TO
field, but should be able to send the same message automatically to every
address on a master list, keep track of replies, and so forth. In the case of
sending press releases, it would not be appropriate to utilize an elist host
server--so standalone software (I would think) would be required.

Also--spammers must use the same kind of software, so how can I use it to
send legitimate materials and avoid being automatically blocked by
spam-filtering software?

Any help, direction to information resources, etc., will be appreciated.
