[epub] Question about Hyperlinks not working

E-pubbers,

I have a question I hope someone here may be able to answer. In my
twice-a-month e-zine, I use hyperlinks to articles I have archived on
Themestream and also to freebies and other things that readers can sign up
for. For the "freebie" and other affiliate links, the readers first go to a
page on my website for about a second and are then redirected to the
appropriate page (so I have a way of tracking how many people visit the
affiliate links from my e-zine).

Anyway, yesterday I got an e-mail from a subscriber who is a Hotmail user.
She said that the redirected links are not working for her. She said she
gets a message saying that "there was an error displaying the link". She
said the direct links seemed to work fine but she could not access the
redirected links.

Have any of you heard of such a thing? She's the only one who has told me
about this kind of problem. I know that when you click on a link from an
e-mail message using Hotmail, the linked page comes up in a new screen that
goes through Hotmail (excuse my lack of technical jargon--I mean that at the
top of the page is Hotmail's frame). Because I know that Hotmail is often
very slow, I wonder if the links don't work for her because Hotmail's system
is overloaded at the time and thus gives her an error in displaying the
link.

I know what I just wrote may sound confusing. Does anyone out there know
what I mean or what I can tell this subscriber?
