Can I ask help please?

I am a writer and have started, successfully, selling my work in pdf 
(Acrobat) fashion.  However, out of almost 1000 fulfilments I have come 
across just a handful of people who say the lower case 'c' is missing from 
their copies.  

It's a tiny number but I want to get it right.  I did find one such file 
which did indeed have the c missing although they are in the original text.

Can someone help please as I don't think the problem is at my end but at the 
receiving end - I found the problem on my children's computer but my own 
download and access pdf files perfectly.

Is there any reason anyone can think of, please, as to why such a tiny 
minority of people are unable to access lower case 'c' on their pdf files?
