Dear Denise

One of the major reasons for readers deciding to unsubscribe
from your list is that the content they find isn't what they need
or expect.  It adds enormously to the list administrative work,
esp. if you are doing this manually yourself.

A workaround I've found useful is to offer a sample issue by
autoresponder email and on your website.  This lets readers
get a feel for your publication and make more informed
decisions about signing up for it.

I've started promoting this sample URL and email address
instead of my ezine's, and then give detailed subscribe
instructions at the end of the sample issue.  It has brought
down the number of new subscribers signing up - but has
also let me retain most of those who do sign up !
