I agree.  And many will not.  That's why they still get the
entire newsletter in plain text - the click here blurb is close
to the beginning of the plain text version - that gives them the
option to either click to read in html and see the pictures, or
continue reading in plain text.

Readers are a funny bunch - we have to try and accommodate as
many as possible.  Now I use topica.com - subscribers can choose
whether they want to receive plain text or html, but I couldn't
figure out how to send one newsletter in for distribution in dual
formats - without the plain text version looking pretty bad.
Some readers are adamant - they want that smooth sleek fast read
in a plain text newsletter, they hate html in their email inbox,
etc.  Some want to see illustrations, colors, graphics, fonts,
the whole nine yards.  This was the best of both worlds that I
could come up with at the moment - without going to an expensive
newsletter service that would handle it.
