Re: [epub] HTML vs Text
I'll throw in my two cents' worth... I started as an HTML publication, with a
text-only option. I do not for one moment regret dumping the HTML and going
with text-only. It is easier for me, and far kinder to my audience ...
99.99% of my readers are able to read plain text messages that are formatted in
monospace type on a 65-character line with hard-returns.

if they have a proportional space font in their email reader it is still acceptable... and LOTS better than if I formatted in proportional fonts and they read in monospace! Since going to all plain text mailings, no one has complained a single time about the formatting. Invariably, i would get 1-2 complaints per mailing using HTML.

I, too, am a one-person operation, and there are no outside advertisers (a topic
for a different email). HTML email for my pubs would simply take up more time
than is reasonably worthwhile. What I remember of Lockergnome (I unsubbed
months ago, for the adverts and other stuff) was that it was easy to see the
adverts (too easy) and thus ignore them and skip right to the paragraphs I knew
I wanted to quickly scan for content. In HTML, the adverts are so obvious as to
be easily ignored.
