EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread]RE: [epub] Getting subscribers
Hi Chris, Couldn't agree with you more. Enough said about banners. I own a small, independant e book publishing company, as well as publishing an e zine. Before getting involved with e publishing I was a reporter and editor for a daily newspaper, and later a public relations specialist and media coordinator. I have really transferred a lot of that print advertising and promotions know-how to the Internet, which has worked like a charm in many ways for me. Mainly I'm talking about writing press releases and submitting them to the appropriate people, such as newletters that have a large subscriber base, booking myself for live chat interviews or workshops across the net (I do the same for my authors), and writing a publicity package regarding my site and books available, and sending these press releases out to those involved with the media, and targeting them also to those people who would be most interested in my site or subject matter. Also directories on other websites that are in some way connected with what I do seems to help as well. I've also written a free book I'm putting on free download websites, and offering it in press releases in online discussion lists like this one. I belong to others that exist specifically for news releases and advertising. I just finished it recently, and only this week have begun to make it available at sites other than my own and I've gotten several responses about the book already. I think everyone enjoys a freebie, especially something they find valuable and informative. This also gives you as the writer the chance to advertise your service, another book for sale on a similar subject, and a newsletter or ezine. I've downloaded free books and if I like them then I generally will also visit the website included in the book, or will check out the newsletter or services offered. But if there are several mistakes, spelling, grammar, etc., then I probably wouldn't. So even though it's a freebie, it still needs to be as professional as you can make it. And then of course there are signature files like the one attached to this mail. Hope this helps. I fully (with 99% :-) agree with you. Lets stop this banner thread. I've cut down info being presented in my banner - thanks again for taking time to review it and advices. You wrote:---------- I personally feel banners are not worth the effort. There are so many other types of marketing and promotion that are much more effective. ----------------- And lets talk about other types that you've mentioned above. Could you share some?
