[epub] Selling Ad Space

Hi everyone:

I explored the epub archives and couldn't find where this topic has 
come up recently, so I decided to post.

I have just topped the 1000-subscriber mark and am now interested in 
selling ad space.  

My ezine is geared towards writers who want to launch and/or maintain 
full-time freelance careers, and I would like to find advertisers who 
have products and services of interest to my readers. I know there 
are many such companies out there (self-publishing companies, 
producers of writing software, etc.)--Writers Digest, the premier 
print mag for writers, is filled with such ads.  

My question is, how do I let these companies know my publication 
exists without spamming them? I have just posted ads on a copy of 
auction sites, but what are some other ways to sell one's ad space?
