Mark,

I use Topica's list hosting service.  The only pitfall is that we
had to break the lists into two for better performance of
delivery (so there is both a suddenfacts and suddenfacts2
newsletter with each about 500,000 subscribers -- as well as both
a hollywoodreviews and hollywoodreviews2 newsletter). While I
have heard the pros and cons of list hosts out there, I have a
lot of confidence and appreciation for Topica's customer service,
reliability, and ad share revenue.  At the number of subscribers
we have, the ad share revenue is not an insignificant amount.
For large announcement type lists/newsletters, I don't think you
can go wrong with them.  In addition, delivery is usually within
15 minutes to all subscribers.  That still astounds me.  I was
lured away from a paid list service (that was eroding our profits)
to Topica with the thought that I could always switch back.  It
has been a year this month since we switched and so far no regrets
(except perhaps moving over sooner).
