RE: [epub] AOL text wrapping

This is a bit of a throwback question. In the early days of computing a
terminal window could display 80 characters on a line. As a result,
sometimes a server will automatically insert a carriage return/linefeed
sequence into any line longer than aproximately this number.

To compound the problem, sometimes this is configurable with tbe sender's
mail client. For example, if you are using Outlook and have added Internet
Email as one of your Services, if you choose Tool/Options from the Menu bar
and then click the Internet Email tab you will see an option for setting the
number of characters to automatically insert a carriage return/linefeed
sequence (the default is 76).

So what is safe? A number less than 80. But because some server or clients
may treat the CRLF as two characters (they are actually ASCII 13 and 10
respectively), you should use a number less than 78. Given that MSFT
probably did some research before coming up with the default in Outlook, a
good number and safe number to pick would be 76.
