Re: [epub] Newsletter- should I offer for free?
Hi Elizabeth..

I have a free site and free ezine. My subs are only at 392 at the moment
so I'm waiting till I get over 500 to try for sponsors. Meanwhile I use
my affiliates and have made about $300 but I don't know if that is from
the ezine or my site. Most of this has been over the last three months.
I don't advertise very much as I wanted the ezine to build slowly so I
could make my major mistakes in front of a small audience and I feel
that word of mouth makes for subscribers that stay instead of taking a
look and leaving though I still get them.

I would not pay for a ezine and don't expect anyone else to .. what I do
expect if they can afford it is for them to support the ezine when they
can. Not just by buying products through the ezine but for them to give
feedback and send in articles and tips (this does not happen often) I
have to ask people I meet around the net for articles.

Decided what you don't want to have happen and what you do.. define your
goals. For instance I don't want articles or tips that have been printed
elsewhere and so I end up writing a lot of the content myself when I
can't get an article. I've also found that advertising in these Articles
for use lists etc just does not work.. each person that put forward an
article to me from those places did not read my main criteria.. i.e.
must not have been published elsewhere...it's best to ask people who
seem to have a spark about them.. (take a look at their sites first:)
you can get some really good original articles this way...I don't pay
anyone.. the resource box is their 'payment' and vehicle for their
writing.

oops I'm babblin on...so yes.. offer your ezine for free build up your
rep and make contacts ...learn by your mistakes and visit Brian Alt's
websites frequently;)..The last piece of advice is make the ezine a
front for your personality.. to my mind the ezine's I keep reading are
those that contain the personality (to some extent) of the writer..
lockergnome.com is a case in point.

regards Tina
