Hi, Vicky...

While most people probably do have the option of reading
Word documents, 99% of the people won't open a Word
attachment (because of viruses) so you have to send your
file in the body of the email. I'd guess another 99% or
thereabouts choose to receive only plain text email. (I do.)

If you opt for using Word, you're going to lose a LOT of
potential subscribers who want *only* plain text messages.
Also, if you don't set your line to break at a certain
character number (60-65 is best), your ezine is going to go
all over the place for some people. Look at the line below
and the difference in how it looks with various line length
settings:

60 Characters:

The quick brown fox jumped over something but I'm getting
too old to remember what it was.

65 Characters:
The quick brown fox jumped over something but I'm getting
too old
to remember what it was.

55 Characters:
The quick brown fox jumped over something but I'm
getting too old to remember what it was.

See where each line breaks? If you don't put those breaks in
yourself, depending on your preferences, some of your
readers will see things like this:

The quick brown fox jumped over something but I'm
getting too old
to remember what it was.

NOT attractive design.

The key to eliminate visual boredom is to use other means of
dressing up your text. I wrote an article about this awhile
back. You can get a copy of it from autoresponder by sending
a blank email to plaintext@sendfree.com. Hope this helps!
