I had the same idea...And told this group where they could get a free
program that they could use with MS Word to produce PDF documents.

I'm working on a emagazine that will be in PDF format. PDF is an excellent 
format that can be used to create eBooks, ezines, e-reports. PDF files can be
read on computers, laptops, handheld devices such as Palm devices, and
through the Glassbook reader now known as the Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader.  {HYPERLINK "http://www.digitalworm.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=15&tbtoolid=1063"}
Sometimes you need to include a graphic to make it clear or show
the reader what you're talking about...And plain text just will not cut it.
This is just my opinion, but I think that PDF formatted publications
is the way to go and will be the norm in the next couple of years.
There is already talk of schools using handheld devices to replace
textbooks, some districts are currently talking to publishers trying to find
out how to get their textbooks in PDF format.
Folks the epublishing industry is about to explode...
