Got an Ezine Marketing |
EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] A Marketing Dilemma
I posted this question on a marketing bulletin board and got some great
ideas but I wanted to ask the list concerning one of the responses I
recieved since you are the e-zine "guru's" :-)
Here was the origional question I posted...
-----------------------
"As some of you know now, I am producing a weekly newsletter that
offers honest reviews of marketing sites, marketing tools, and marketing
private sites. That's all my site is and that's all I want it to be at this
point.
I will create products and back-end products at a later date, but I want
my content to be the newsletter and the website is just the vehicle for
subscribing. I currently have written on my site that reviews will not be
reprinted nor will they be archived. I was trying create a "sense of
urgency" in the subscriber. If they don't subscribe NOW they will miss
valuable information
Since my first issue went out I have received a few requests to reprint
some or all of my reviews in other newsletters. Here's the dilemma:
If I allow my current reviews to be reprinted in other newsletters then
what reason does the reader of THAT newsletter have to subscribe to
mine? If I turn down reprint requests, then I am turning down free
publicity.
If I DON'T put my reviews on my website then future visitors cant see the
content/quality of my newsletter and they can't click on the affiliate links
(for the good reviews) which means I lose income. But if I put the reviews
on my site, what reason is there to subscribe to the newsletter?
I'm doing this part time. I've done the route of the "content driven" site
before and I know the time involved. Which is why I wanted to create
a newsletter focused site. Yet I would still like to make a profit too! :-)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! "
------------------
One gentleman responded
---------------------------
"How about considering providing your newsletter as a syndicated column?
Charge each newsletters $25 a month for reviews, unlimited one-time
distribution within their newsletter, provide a short promotional byline for
your site at the end of each article. Your feature could be used as a
promotional
feature or a regular column -- it's the newspaper column model. "
-------------------------
Another women agreed with him and said that she would pay $25 for such a
column.
My question to the list is this...How many of you actually PAY for some of
the content in your newsletter? I've never heard of this as far as doing it
in e-zines. I would appreciate your input. While it sounds like a great
idea, I wonder how many actually do it "In real life"
Thanks again for your input.
